A lot of companies are starting to go away from e-mail marketing and just get into blogging because of how much bad reputation email marketing gets. People have a ton of new spam filtering programs. We are going to cover the top 5 reasons as to why you should still have e-mail marketing in your strategies.

Michael Stelzner and Social Media Examiner are at it again. They are hosting Social Media Marketing World 2014 in San Diego next March. I attended this year’s inaugural conference, and was blown away by the content, speakers, attendees and venue.
I’ve put into practice the lessons learned from marketing experts like Marcus Sheridan, of the Sales Lion, who talked about the golden rule of blogging, “They Ask, You Answer.” I also took away empowering strategies aboutGloria Rand with Guy Kawasaki at SMMW 2013Google+ from Guy Kawasaki, and Twitter from Mark Schaefer. And that was only the tip of the iceberg.
There were also terrific networking events, like the opening night party at the San Diego Natural History Museum and an exclusive evening aboard the Inspiration Hornblower, the largest private yacht in Southern California.
Launching a new business and need a website? Don’t spend a dime until you decide how you’re going to market your business. Online marketing needs a combination of SEO, social media and email to be successful.
Questions to consider are:
►Who is our target audience? ►Are they in our local area, or national? ►Do our prospects use social media? If so, which network(s)? ►How will our prospects contact us? Phone? Email? ►Who will design the web site? ►Who will write copy and optimize the site?
It’s amazing how quickly Pinterest has morphed from a cool image-sharing site, to a robust revenue generating social media platform. The third most popular social networking site has grown to more than 70 million users. And more importantly, those users shop!
According to Rich Relevance, Pinterest shoppers spend significantly more per checkout – averaging between $140-$180 per order compared with consistent $80 and $60 orders for Facebook and Twitter shoppers, respectively. 70% of brand engagement is generated by Pinterest users, not brands, and 60% of Pinterest purchases were discovered via the Pinterest channel. The lesson here is that brands shouldn’t rely on their own channel exclusively, but should encourage pinning and re-pinning of their content.
If you’re a small business owner, you may have read The Toilet Paper Entrepreneur, or seen its author Mike Michalowicz on CNBC’s The Big Idea with Donny Deutsch. The book is a no-holds-barred primer on starting a business.
I read Mike’s other book, The Pumpkin Plan, a year ago and enjoyed it thoroughly. But I had never gotten around to reading TPE until yesterday.
Full disclosure – I’m still not done with it. But one bit of advice stuck in my craw and I knew I had to write a blog article about it.
If a Search Engine Optimization company approaches you about writing fake Yelp reviews for your business, please say, “No, thanks.”
Why?
It’s illegal.
Nineteen SEO companies were recently caught in a sting operation conducted by the New York attorney general. They will have to pay $350,000 in penalties for posting fake reviews on sites like Yelp, Google Local and CitySearch.
Wouldn’t it be nice to display recommendations from your customers right on your Facebook business page? Local businesses, like restaurants, have had this capability for a long time now. But companies and organizations can add this feature to their page too. Imagine what this will do for your business when visitors to your page see a list of glowing recommendations!
