When I told my assistant that I was writing a blog article called “What is SEO,” my husband popped his head in my office and jokingly said, “Great! I’ve been wondering just what the heck it is you do every day!”
My darling hubby is not a small business owner. And he doesn’t have a website. So I don’t blame him for not knowing what SEO is. But if you have a website for your business, you need to know what those letters stand for and why they matter.
It still surprises me to come across so many small business websites that fail to have an effective search engine optimization strategy. I recently began a new SEO project for an old client. They had their website updated to make it mobile responsive, but the title and description tags for each web page were not optimized for search. I wrote keyword-rich tags and content for their old website. Now, I’m going to update the tags for the new site.
Think blogging is a waste of time for your small business?
