How to Save LinkedIn Company Page Recommendations

Changes are on the way for your LinkedIn Company Page. Recommendations will be disappearing on April 14th, when LinkedIn discontinues the Products & Services tab from company pages. If you’d like to save those recommendations, you have two options.

#1 – You can copy and paste them into a document file. Be mindful though, if you want to use the recommendations in promotional or marketing materials, you should ask permission from the individual who made the recommendation.

#2 – You can also request a copy of the recommendations that were present on your LinkedIn Company Page as of March 4, 2014. LinkedIn says the recommendations will be available through Customer Support until Friday, May 30, 2014.

The 30 Minute Plan for Getting More Clients

getting more clients Small business owners and solopreneurs in particular, rarely have a moment to spare in their workday. But if getting more clients is a priority for you – and it certainly should be if you want to grow your business, you have to make time for marketing. But just how much time is the big question.

How does 30 minutes a day grab you?

Here is a formula you can follow Monday through Friday that is almost guaranteed to get you more business. (Notice I said, “almost.”) Sorry to disappoint you, but I cannot guarantee that you’ll get more clients. I can only guarantee that if you follow this strategy, you’re bound to be more successful than you are right now.

It doesn’t matter what time of day you set aside 30 minutes for marketing. Ideally, it should be at the start of your day. That way, once you’re finished, you can relax and get on with the rest of your tasks. But if you’d rather set aside 30 minutes at the end your workday, that’s fine too. The key to success is to be consistent. Experts say it takes 30 days to establish a habit. This 30 minute marketing plan should become a habit if you want to get the most benefit from it.

11 Tips for Hosting a Successful Webinar

hosting a webinar Hosting your own webinar is a great way to generate leads and sales for your business. But there is a right way and a wrong to do it. I recently shared some lessons on what NOT to do, based on my experience as a webinar attendee. In this article, you’ll learn what you SHOULD do to ensure your audience gets value out of your presentation.

Before the Webinar:

#1 – Know your audience

Before you even set a date for the webinar, you should have in mind exactly who your target audience is for this webinar. That will determine what content you present, and how you go about marketing the event.

#2 – Set your goal

5 Essential Apps for Curating Content from Your Smartphone

By Donella Crigger

Content curation is an essential aspect of social media marketing. Whether you focus on one social network or many, one thing is certain: you need a lot of content. What you don’t have—or at least I don’t—is a lot of time. The good news is that you don’t need much time when you use a few minutes here and there for curating content from your smartphone. Here are my top five apps for content curation.

1. Pocket – This app is an absolute lifesaver when paired with the browser extensions. When you read an interesting article or blog post on your

What NOT to do When Hosting a Webinar

hosting a webinarUpdated: April, 2022

Do you have plans for hosting a webinar to promote your business in 2022? If so, I’d like to share some tips on what NOT to do, based on a past experience as a webinar participant.

Lesson #1 – Don’t be late!

Monday afternoon, I logged into the webinar and waited… and waited… and waited. Finally, about 5-7 minutes in, the webinar started. The presenters apologized for not starting the webinar on time. That was a good thing, because unless you’re experiencing severe technical difficulties, (as they claimed they were), you had better start that webinar ON TIME! That’s a major credibility factor. People don’t have time to waste. They’re not going to be happy with you, if you start late. And if you’re trying to sell something…wow… you’re going to have a very tough time making the sale if you’ve already blown your audience’s trust. On the other hand, people do understand when technical difficulties arise, and they will be sympathetic if you apologize. But do try to work out any kinks beforehand, so you can avoid starting late at all.

7 Places to Add Keywords to Your LinkedIn Profile

LinkedIn profileOne of my first blog posts (and one of my most popular) was called, “6 Places to Add Keywords to Your LinkedIn Profile.” It was written back in 2010, and LinkedIn has certainly changed a great deal since then. At that time, there were 187 million professional members in 200 countries. Today, there are 277 million members. Of that number, 34 percent have incomes over $100,000. There were no company pages back in 2010 either, but today, there are more than three million of them.

LinkedIn marketing expert Lewis Howes once said, “LinkedIn is the number one social networking site on the planet today. And… it’s the number one site for anyone looking to build their business.” I believe that’s certainly true today. I did some work for Scholastic Book Fairs a number of years ago. That job came about because the social media manager who was hiring found my profile on LinkedIn. I’m still getting leads from the site today.

Top 7 Online Marketing Tools for Small Business

Top Online Marketing ToolsI have been using a few new online marketing tools lately that have really made a big difference in my business, so I thought this would be a good time to share them with you, along with a few other oldies but goodies!

Here are my current favorite online marketing tools, in no particular order:

1. Quozio – OMG! Where has this app been all my business life? Have you ever pinned an image containing a motivational quote to a Pinterest board, or shared one on Facebook? If you’d like to create images like this yourself, Quozio is the tool for you. They provide a bookmarklet, so anytime you see a great quote online, you click the Quozio link on your toolbar, type in the quote and who said it, and then you have your choice of about two dozen backgrounds with different font styles. You can then pin the image to Pinterest, tweet it out on Twitter, or post it on Facebook. You can also email it or save it to your desktop. Easy-peasie!

19 Ways to Boost Your Facebook News Feed Reach

I recently wrote how Facebook has tweaked its news feed algorithm. As a result, plain status updates don’t get the news feed reach that they once did. I’ve found that reach has been down across the board, no matter what type of post I share – link, photo or status update.

But there is hope. I tried a couple of strategies recently that did increase the reach. One involved sharing the following post on my personal Facebook page:

How Internet Marketing is Like a Marathon

marathon mktg picIf you’re going to engage in internet marketing to promote your company’s products and services, you need commitment, flexibility and patience. Characteristics that also come in handy if you’re training for a marathon. I speak from experience. Last Sunday, I completed the 2014 Walt Disney World Marathon.

I didn’t finish in the top ten. Heck, I didn’t even finish in the top 1,000. I was out on that course for over 8 hours (counting the 45 minutes waiting in the corral to start the race!) but I finished. And more importantly, I raised more than $1700 for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, got my Mickey Mouse medal, and basked in the pain and glory of joining an elite group of people who have completed multiple marathons. (Yep, I’m a glutton for punishment. This was my 2nd marathon.)
