5 Ways to Use SlideShare for Your Business

If you do presentations for your business, you may already be aware of SlideShare. It’s a social networking site that lets you upload PowerPoint presentations, documents and PDFs (and videos if you pay for the PRO version) that can be viewed by other users.

But that’s really just the tip of the iceberg with regards to SlideShare. With 60 million monthly visitors and 130 million page views, it’s an extremely powerful tool that can be used to promote your business and generate leads. Here are just a few ways that you can use SlideShare for your business:

1. Demonstrate expertise – When you upload a presentation that explains how to do something in your industry, this is a perfect way for you to demonstrate your expertise on a particular subject. Just remember to keep your slides simple, and to the point. Don’t clutter them with too many words. Use images to reinforce your points.

2. Optimize for search – Make sure you add keywords to your SlideShare titles and descriptions. Not will it make it easier for SlideShare users to find your content, but it will make it easier for anyone searching on Google to find you as well. SlideShare presentations rank very well in search engines, so take advantage of this feature.

3. Follow-up to webinars
– Uploading webinar presentations to SlideShare is a must. Here is a perfect way for you to demonstrate your expertise and endear yourself to your registrants. After the webinar, you can email the SlideShare link to your presentation to all of your registrants. They will appreciate getting the information to review, and you have an opportunity to nurture them as leads for your business.

4. Share with social network
s – You can get more views for your presentations by sharing them with your social networks. Twitter, LinkedIn and Pinterest are great for this because users of these networks can view the SlideShare presentations without leaving the site. I uploaded a LinkedIn presentation to Pinterest recently that got repinned a bunch of times, so I plan to use this site more often in the future. There is a Facebook SlideShare app which I’ve used in the past to display SlideShare presentations directly on Facebook, but it doesn’t seem to work anymore. That doesn’t mean your Facebook followers are out of luck. You can post the link to your presentations in the status update. Anyone who clicks the link will then be taken to SlideShare to view it.

5. Embed in your blog/website – SlideShare also gives you the option to embed your presentations in your blog or website. This is a great way to enhance your content. I put together a presentation on this subject, which you can see below as an example:

SlideShare’s free version will tell you how many times your presentations have been downloaded, but if you want to know WHO has downloaded them, you will have to pay. They have 3 different categories, starting at $19 a month, with advanced features such as analytics, lead capturing, and the ability to export your data.
