The following is Marissa’s story in her own words:
My very first memory [ever] was being slapped across the room as my mom’s husband attacked her. I was two.
Needless to say my life didn’t get much better, I grew up in grotesque poverty, left home at 14 and married at 16. By the time I was 23 I had three children and a very dysfunctional and abusive marriage. The cycle had continued and one day after a long play date with their friends in our home my daughter ran up to me, toys scattered across the room and said “Mommy, let’s hurry up and clean up before Daddy gets home so he doesn’t get mad!” THAT was like a ton of bricks in my face and I became determined to put an end to it.
When I finally got the courage to leave, I left with my children, my car and the clothes on my back. I had NO resources, I had NO marketable skills, I had NO education and I had NO home. But what I did have was my children and my life. I knew I had to come up with a plan so I could take care of my children.
THIS led me to systems. Systems that allowed me to go to school in the evenings while working days, systems that allowed me to deal with class at school so that when I got home I could put the mom hat on and be their mom, systems that allowed me to excel in my studies so I would be able to go after the job required to make the income I needed to support my children.
Fast-forward to today and I realize that systems were what empowered me to change my reality for the better.
Systems helped to catapult me to where I am today, surrounded by a loving family, with an amazing partner who loves and supports me in everything I do.
Systems helped me obtain multiple higher-level degrees so I could share my knowledge and expertise with the world.
Systems have allowed me to build the business of my dreams so I can empower women across the globe to learn to use AND LOVE the technology required to run their businesses on autopilot so they can stay firmly planted in their zone of genius while serving their tribes and upleveling their businesses!
