Top 3 Ways to Boost Facebook Reach without Paying for Ads

boost facebook reach Are you struggling to get your Facebook posts seen by your fans? I feel your pain. I’m having the same trouble! But I have found 3 surefire ways to boost Facebook reach organically, so you don’t have to spend money on ads.

One word of caution. Even though these methods are helpful, ads have their place too. If you are promoting an event like a webinar or running a special deal on a product or service, you should invest in Facebook ads. They work. And you don’t have to spend an arm or a leg either! But that’s an article for another day. 🙂

Here are my 3 favorite ways to boost Facebook reach, in order of effectiveness.

#3 – Tell Your Fans to “Get Notifications” – Whenever someone “likes” a Facebook page, they have an option to select “Get notifications” from that page. But this feature won’t help you if you’ve had a page for more than two years. Your older fans didn’t have that option when they liked your page. The solution? Once a month or every 6 weeks, ask your fans to visit your timeline, mouse over your “liked” button, and select “Get notifications” from the dropdown menu. This will ensure that everytime you post something to the Facebook page, your fans will be notified.

#2 – Share Your Page Posts with Your Personal Profile
– I discovered this hack by accident. And it quickly became one of my favorites. Whenever you post something that you want to get the maximum amount of reach, share it with your personal timeline. It’s a lot easier for your friends to see your posts than your fans. Just make sure whatever you’re posting would appeal to your friends.

Let’s say you create images with motivational quotes on them. Post them on your Facebook page first, and then share them on your timeline. Or if you’re running a special sale or hosting a workshop, post the notice on your page first. Then, share it with your timeline. You’ll be amazed at the increase in reach.

Here’s an example of what happened when I shared a simple status update. Normally, a post like this would reach about 15 people. But as you can see below, sharing enabled me to triple my reach!

#1 – Upload Videos Directly to Facebook – If you really want to reach and engage more of your fans on Facebook without spending $$ on ads, upload a video! This is by far, the most effective way to boost your organic reach. In the image below, you can clearly see the difference between reach and engagement on video posts, versus link posts.

  1. Good post Gloria. My personal favorite is uploading video directly on Facebook. I personally used this multiple time to get more reach & engagement. I also accidentally found that uploading multiple images while posting also get more reach organically.

  2. Everything you wrote here is true. I realized videos have more organic reach, followed by posts without no picture(s). Great blog and great content.

    • Thanks, Charlie. Videos are awesome, but I still find it strange that pictures don’t do as well as they used to.

  3. I love tip #2 and find it very helpful. I wrote about it on my blog, and had some social media manager read me the riot act about not using your profile for business posts. Huh? Getting people to share our page posts is every page’s dream! Why would we not do this ourselves? When appropriate, of course!

    • Glad you liked tip #2 and have used it yourself. I’ve gotten that same comment about not using profile for business, but I’ve always advocated the 80/20 rule. Your friends know you’re in business, so it’s ok to share business related posts SOME of the time. 🙂
