Social networking sites can be a small business owner’s best friend or their worst enemy. It doesn’t take any money to start a Facebook page, Twitter account or a WordPress blog, for instance. But social networking does take time to implement. And as we all know, time IS money.
So, if you thought the only way to get your company’s message out to social networking sites was to post to each one individually, you can relax. There are tools to allow you to update all of your social networking accounts at once. One of the best I’ve found is Ping.fm.
This free, easy-to-use site allows you to post status updates from a computer or mobile phone. You can also send updates via e-mail, text, AOL or Yahoo IM, even Skype.
The list of social networking sites you can post to from Ping.fm is impressive:
You don’t always have to post to all of your social networking sites at once either. Ping.fm will let you set up posting groups to specify which posts go where. For instance, if you have Twitter, Facebook and LinkedIn set up, but you only want to post to Twitter & Facebook, a posting group will let you do that.
Ping.fm also makes it easy for you to differentiate between status updates, micro-blogging (160 characters or less) and regular blogging.
I still haven’t taken advantage of all the features Ping.fm offers yet. But I plan to start, as soon as I finish this blog post! 🙂
If you use Ping.fm, I’d love to know what your opinion of it is. Or if you use a different service, please let me know what it is and why you chose it. I’ll share the results in a future blog post.
