[tweetmeme]Facebook has been busy making changes again! This latest development concerns the news feed. A new window has appeared on the right hand side of the page called “Happening Now.”
As you can see above, this window is like a “mini-newsfeed” that scrolls in the latest updates from your friends and pages. What’s also nice about this is the fact that you can click on the individual status updates and get more info about them and have a chance to interact by liking, commenting or sharing.
However, this does NOT work when you are using Facebook as a page, only when you are in personal profile mode. Whether or not Facebook changes that policy, only time will tell.
I believe this change is rolling out slowly, so if you haven’t noticed it yet, here’s a short video to show you what it looks like in action:

This started the other day for me. I HATE it! Now I get posts from yesterday at the top of my news feed whilst my most recent posts are halfway down the page. I don’t know how they could make it worse, but they’re somehow succeeding.
Jake,
My sympathies! I do wish there was a way to turn it off if you don’t want to use the feature. I guess they’re trying to emulate Twitter, but they shouldn’t try to be all things to all people.
Have you checked your news feed to see if you’re looking at “Top News” vs. “Most Recent”? The posts from yesterday may be showing because you’re looking at Top News.
