I’ve written several articles and blog posts about how important it is to create unique titles and descriptions for each web page in order to help move your website up the search engine rankings.
So, now that you’ve done that work, you can kick back and relax and wait for people to come rushing to your website, right?
Wrong.
New websites keep cropping up every day, and with them, new competitors to your business. Plus, Google and the other search engines like to change their search algorithms from time to time, which means your ranking could slip as a result.
Add Fresh Content to Your Website
So, is there anything you can do? Thankfully, yes! The best way to ensure you stay atop the search engine ranks is to add content. It can be in the form of additional pages to your site with relevant information that your customers/prospects can use. Or you can add a blog to your site, and write articles on a regular basis with information your target audience can use about your products or services. You can also freshen up the content you already have on your website. If you’re an e-commerce site, for instance, you can modify your home page from time to time by writing copy that advertises a sale or highlights a specific item in your inventory.
Just remember when you’re adding or modifying your content to continue to focus on keyword research and search engine optimization. Each page of content you add to your site should focus on two or three different keyword/phrases. Then, you can monitor how much traffic that page is getting by using a service like Google Analytics.
The important thing to remember is to be consistent. If you have a blog, publish at least one article per week, so the search engines will always have something new to see when their “spiders” crawl through your site. Think of your website as an organic, living thing. Just like animals and plants, it needs nourishment to not only survive, but thrive. By “feeding” your site new content, it can keep climbing the search engine ranks and attract new traffic to your business.
