The Power of Masterminds for Solopreneurs

masterminds for solopreneurs

2016 was an emotional year for me. More on that later… But one of the highlights was my decision to run masterminds for solopreneurs.

If you’re not familiar with the concept of a mastermind, its modern day origins trace back to Napoleon Hill, the author of Think and Grow Rich. In that book (which I highly recommend, by the way!), he wrote that the guiding principle of the mastermind is:

“The coordination of knowledge and effort of two or more people, who work toward a definite purpose, in the spirit of harmony.”

Later, he expands on that, by saying…

““No two minds ever come together without thereby creating a third, invisible intangible force, which may be likened to a third mind [the master mind].”

I have seen the power of that statement brought to life over and over again over the last year. It began when I signed up for a Mastermind Bootcamp run by the amazing Jay Fiset. Then, later that summer, I invested in a mastermind training program (again led by Jay) so I could learn how to run these groups effectively.

4 Reasons Why You Should Attend Social Media Marketing World 2014

By Gloria Rand

Michael Stelzner and Social Media Examiner are at it again. They are hosting Social Media Marketing World 2014 in San Diego next March. I attended this year’s inaugural conference, and was blown away by the content, speakers, attendees and venue.

I’ve put into practice the lessons learned from marketing experts like Marcus Sheridan, of the Sales Lion, who talked about the golden rule of blogging, “They Ask, You Answer.” I also took away empowering strategies about

Gloria Rand, Guy Kawasaki

Google+ from Guy Kawasaki, and Twitter from Mark Schaefer.  And that was only the tip of the iceberg.

There were also terrific networking events, like the opening night party at the San Diego Natural History Museum and an exclusive evening aboard the Inspiration Hornblower, the largest private yacht in Southern California.

Online Marketing PlanBy Gloria Rand

Launching a new business and need a website? Don’t spend a dime until you decide how you’re going to market your business. Online marketing needs a combination of SEO, social media and email to be successful.

Questions to consider are:

Who is our target audience?
Are they in our local area, or national?
Do our prospects use social media? If so, which network(s)?
How will our prospects contact us? Phone? Email?
Who will design the web site?
Who will write copy and optimize the site?

Toilet Paper Entrepreneur
By Gloria Rand

If you’re a small business owner, you may have read The Toilet Paper Entrepreneur, or seen its author Mike Michalowicz on CNBC’s The Big Idea with Donny Deutsch. The book is a no-holds-barred primer on starting a business.

I read Mike’s other book, The Pumpkin Plan, a year ago and enjoyed it thoroughly. But I had never gotten around to reading TPE until yesterday.

Full disclosure – I’m still not done with it. But one bit of advice stuck in my craw and I knew I had to write a blog article about it.
