How to Shorten a Facebook Tag

[tweetmeme] Ever wonder how to shorten a tag on Facebook so you’re just using your friend’s first name, rather than the whole name? In the video below, I’ll show you how!

When you want to tag someone on Facebook, you have to type the @ symbol first, and then the first few letters of their name. A dropdown menu will come up with your friends’ names that match. Click the name you want to display. As soon as the name appears highlighted in the status update box or comment box, hit the backspace key once. This removes the highlight from the last name. You can now keep backspacing until the name is erased.

There’s another way to do this too. Once you’ve tagged your friend, hit the space bar on your keyboard and then hit the backspace key twice. That will erase the entire last name.
