Many small business owners are reluctant to invest in Facebook ads because they aren’t convinced the ads will generate a good ROI for the money spent. Advertising is not an easy task to undertake. It’s difficult to understand what ad will resonate with your target audience. That’s why it’s best to run more than one ad, so you can test the copy, and the image, to see what performs best.
Facebook’s ad manager will tell you how your own ad performs – giving you data on reach, number of clicks, click through rate, etc. But there has been no easy way to review what types of ads your competition was running, and how well they performed, until now. SEMrush, the search engine optimization tool provider, is introducing a new feature to provide intelligence on Facebook advertising.
The new Facebook pay-per-click intelligence tool allows you to discover information such as: who uses Facebook ads, how they are employed, what the ads consist of, and if they are successful.
When you log into SEMrush, you can search Facebook ads by keyword, and view the average unique hits each ad has generated over the past week, month and 3 month period.
You can also click on an individual ad to see more details such as what location the ad was targeted for, how long the ad ran, and the number of impressions & unique impressions.
You can also search by domain…
And review top ads and top advertisers from all the countries Facebook serves, or individual countries.
A limited number of results will be available for free, but more robust results will be delivered if you subscribe to SEMrush’s premium plans.
The ability to spy on your competition in this way should prove invaluable to any company that wants to advertise on Facebook. You’ll be able to tailor your own ads by seeing what works and what doesn’t for other businesses.
