LinkedIn is adding a much-needed feature to its Company Pages: the ability to post status updates. This is a welcome development. LinkedIn Company Pages have some great features, such as the ability to include YouTube videos, and banner-size graphics. But it’s been difficult, I think, for small businesses to attract company followers without having any way to engage them. That’s why Facebook business pages are so popular. It’s all about engagement there!
Now, LinkedIn Company Page admins will be able to share announcements, product releases, promotions, etc. right on their page. And LinkedIn says admins will be able to optimize the conversation by seeing which updates are most engaging.
This new ability is being rolled out slowly. I still don’t have it on my own company page. But here is an example of what it will look like:
LinkedIn has also worked out some new developer deals that will help increase user engagement. Wildfire Interactive will offer users the ability to run contests and sweepstakes on LinkedIn, similar to what they offer on Facebook. Wildfire says running one of its promotions in conjunction with a LinkedIn ad can double click-through rates by more than 60%, when compared to running an ad without a Wildfire promotion.
And Hootsuite users can now schedule posts directly to LinkedIn Company Pages and Groups.
Hootsuite says, “these features can help companies enhance sales lead generation and HR recruiting efforts by sharing professional expertise, publishing company status updates, and promoting job opportunities – all from a centralized, secure communications hub.”
I encourage you to become a follower of my LinkedIn Company Page to stay on top of the latest SEO and social media marketing trends.
