How to Connect with Spirit

The following is a transcript of today’s Facebook Live:

Namaste. Good morning, good afternoon, good evening – depending on where you are and when you’re watching this. I am Gloria Grace Rand and I am here on this wonderful Wednesday to share with you today’s Daily Word from Unity and today’s word, if I can get it up here on my computer – there we go – today’s Daily Word is Breathe. And the affirmation is I CONSCIOUSLY CONNECT WITH INDWELLING SPIRIT AS I BREATHE. And the reading starts off:

Daily Word: Breathe

Each mindful breath I take helps me feel closer to God. Through my breath, I welcome the sensation that is life expressing through me.

As I slowly and deeply inhale and fill my lungs with air, I become aware of my heart center. This awareness lets me know I am not alone; I could never be alone. God is always with me and within me.

Exhaling, I release any tension I have been carrying, and as I do I feel my mind and body become lighter and more free.

As I return to the activity of the day, I carry the gifts of mindful breathing. I am engaged while feeling grounded, energized while feeling peaceful, and deeply aware of God while remaining fully present in the world.

And then the scripture reading today is from John 20:22 – When he had said this, he breathed on them and said to them, “Receive the Holy Spirit.”

Breathing. Such a simple thing that we take for granted don’t we? But to be mindful of our breath. It really does… I know it for me, it certainly helps me feel closer to God. In fact, this morning I woke up and I was feeling a little bit upset about something I have to do and I’ve been resisting it, and so I decided to shake up my morning routine this morning, a little bit and I just spent a lot of time just sitting quietly and breathing.

Because I knew that I just needed to be quiet and to wait for… I guess, not just wait, but just to be quiet and let God in, yeah, let God into my heart and to reassure me that all is well. And yet that yes, all is well. That I don’t need to worry about what I was worried about and to just trust that everything is happening in divine order, everything is happening in divine timing and I need to take action and not feel sorry for myself, but take action.

And I did that this morning, and that helped. I also listened to, I listened to some Abraham, Esther Hicks and Abraham videos that were also really good. I highly recommend those. If you are not aware of Abraham or Esther and Jerry Hicks, he’s transitioned now, but there are lots of videos on YouTube. I would check them out because they have helped me tremendously. And to focus in on what’s important and really what’s important is that God wants us to be happy. God wants us to be joyful and God doesn’t want us to suffer.

I was actually talking about this last night; I was doing a radio interview. And we’re talking about my book, and that one of the parts of my book, I talk about that we need to embrace our divinity. And to realize that we are a part of God and the way that we can really embrace that is through this conscious breathing, this being able to connect with our indwelling spirit as the affirmation says.

It really… it’s a wonderful practice, I mean, is it any wonder why monks have been meditating for probably thousands of years, I think. Because it’s a practice that helps us to quiet our minds, calm our bodies and allow us to connect with that part of ourselves, that higher part, that God part that dwells within us, that Holy Spirit, as it says in scriptures. So I hope you will know that today, know that you are, you are a divine spiritual being. You are enough, you are worthy, you are precious, you are love because God is love, so that means you are love.

And that also requires sometimes that to take some time and show yourself some love, show yourself some, practice self-love and I don’t mean necessarily get a massage which is nice, but that’s more self-care, but self-love – which the easiest way to do that is to breathe. Stop, pause, and take a mindful breath, so that you can feel closer to God and realize that you are not alone, and I know I have felt that way in the past. I have absolutely felt that way, but I am so grateful now that I know I’m not alone. I am never alone, even if there’s nobody around me, I am still not alone because God is always with me and within me right here.

I hope you’ll remember that today. I’m going to say the affirmation again so you’ll hear it, and hope you’ll take it take it to heart. So the affirmation that you can repeat today is I consciously connect within dwelling spirit as I breathe. I like that. I consciously connect within dwelling spirit as I breathe. Yeah. That’s good. Thank you for watching.
