4 Ways to Use Facebook Sponsored Stories

[tweetmeme]Have you tried Facebook’s Sponsored Stories to advertise your business page? If not, you might want to give it a try. At least one advertiser achieved a 46% higher click-through rate with its Sponsored Story ad units, than on standard Facebook ads, according to a post on Inside Facebook. While there’s no guarantee you could get the same results, the platform does seem promising.

In essence, a Facebook Sponsored Story highlights the activity of a user’s friends who have interacted with a given brand on the site. There are four ways you can create a Sponsored Story ad.

#1 – Page Like Story

This is a basic ad that shows your personal profile picture “liking” a page – either your own page or one that you’re the admin for.

#2 – Page Post Story

This ad enables you to advertise a recent post from one of the pages you admin. A “share” link is included so whoever sees the ad can share the post with their friends. The comment and like icons also click through to a page with the original story.

#3 – Page Post Like Story

In the Page Post Like story, the ad displays one of your page’s recent posts, with the name of the person who liked it. It also displays the comment and like icons as well.

#4 – Check in Story

The Check in story ad includes a message for your friends when you’ve checked into a business using Facebook places. The theory here is that users seeing their friends “liking” or checking in to a business such as Starbucks will drive increased trust and increased traffic.

  2. I’ve just tried to set up a Sponsored Story for my most recent Page post, but I’m getting the following message:

“The selected page does not have any page posts.”

    Anyone else having this issue?

    • Yes, we are having the same issue. I cannot find anyone at Facebook to call or ask what is going on. Too bad, I really want to spend some more advertising money with them…
