For years, I’ve been preaching to small business owners that they need to start a blog. Writing articles is a great way to demonstrate your expertise, so you can attract new leads.

I’ve also taught that B.L.O.G. stands for Better Listings on Google – since articles with keywords get noticed by your prospects when they’re searching for your topic on a search engine.

But I’m changing my tune.

That’s right. This SEO copywriter / internet marketing expert says you should stop writing blog articles NOW!

Here’s what I want you to do instead:

I want you to record a video.Yep. That’s right. I want you to record a video instead of writing a blog article. Shocking, right? Well, here’s the thing. Even though I have devoted my life to being a writer, I can’t deny the power of video. Because when you have video on your website, this gives you an opportunity to have your prospects, your potential clients and customers to actually see you and hear you. And remember, people do business with people they know, like and trust. And let’s face it, there’s just no denying that video is a great way for people to get to know, like and trust you much better than the written word. The written word is great. But, video, it just amps it up a notch.

So what I recommend that you do is the next time you’re getting ready to write a blog article, shoot it as a video instead. Record it on your smartphone. That’s what I’m doing right now. And then upload it to YouTube, which is awesome because now you’ve got the power of the world’s second biggest search engine on your side. So when people are searching, using those keywords that you use in your video, and they search on YouTube, they’re going to find your content. Then, after you’ve uploaded to YouTube, get that video transcribed so now when you come to your website, you can embed the video from YouTube; you can put the transcription onto your website. Now you’ve got the video for people who want to see you and hear you; you’ve got the transcript that will help Google find your website because it’s going to have those keywords. Not to mention people who like to read. There are still people out there who like to read. And they’ll be able to do that too.
