How to Find the Right Keywords for Your Website

[tweetmeme]
It’s pretty easy to set up your own website today. There are many different website hosting services that offer inexpensive customizable templates, so you can be up and running in a matter of minutes. But after you put your website online, the hard part begins. Your site needs to have the right keywords that people use to search for your product or service so your customers can find you online. But how do you determine which keywords are best? You’ve got to do some keyword research.

Think Like Your Target Market

Start by thinking like your customer. Go to Google or Bing and try out different search phrases and see what comes up. If you get a list of your competitors, you know you’re in the right ballpark! But if your search comes up empty, ask your customers directly what search terms they use to find your company. This is a prime example of a time when you can rely on the phrase “the customer is always right.”

Next, compare the content on your website with that of your competitors. Do you see any phrases that are the same? Which keywords appear the most? What are the most obvious phrases? What are the most “opportunistic” ones?

Keyword Search Tool

Still need help? Try a free keyword search tool such as Google’s Adwords or Wordtracker.com or even that old stand-by, the thesaurus, for more ideas. The plan here is to explore all avenues and expand your list of the most searched keywords. If you limit yourself to including just the most common, popular words you will have almost no chance of ranking on page one. That’s because you’ll be competing with millions of other websites for those words. A better strategy will be to include a few other less popular phrases. That way you won’t be competing with as many sites, and you’ll have a much better chance of standing out and reaching your target audience.

  1. Keyword analysis is one of the most important steps in SEO. Website Keyword Ranking depends on keyword analysis from that should be implemented before thinking about publishing a website online.

After website keyword ranking analysis you need to add titles, content, and website name that relate to your targeted keywords, so that your website will rank for those keywords in search engines.

  2. Hi, Gloria,
can you help out what’s going on with Google Adwords and how to interpret its results?

Few days ago, for the first time in my life, after your help, I searched by keyword keyword keycaptcha (all countried, all languages) and for the last month It gave 91.

    1)
What does it mean for keycaptcha having hundreds downloads, and 100+ registrations/installations daily (and being served over a million times monthly to visitors of various websites).
It is difficult to imagine that this keyword (keycaptcha) was searched so little b/c how can webmasters install it that many times w/o seraching for it first.
    How to interpret this results?
keycaptcha does not rent or pay for its advertising. It is free software product

    2)
Today, during an hour, I tried to repeat that query again from the same and other my google account again and could not find it.
It asks to enter my business information, to start advertising campaign, etc. adiante

Why could I use it before and fail now

    • Having daily registrations and installations has nothing to do with searches. Maybe people have been telling their friends about keycaptcha, and those friends are just typing in the direct URL. That’s why the search numbers haven’t been rising that quickly. However, I did a search for keycaptch on Google Adwords too, and noticed that the search trend is rising, so maybe the numbers will be adjusted higher soon.

With regards to your second question, I don’t know why it’s asking for your business info. I’d just try again.
